Organizing your closet by color is a practical and visually pleasing way to keep your clothes in order. By grouping your clothes by color, you can easily find what you're looking for and create fun and exciting clothing combinations.
First, removing all your clothes from the closet is important, separating the clothes you wish to keep from those you do not wear. Feeling overwhelmed can come with the job, but here are some quick tips to help: Make a “keep” pile AND another pile for ones that “have no use” for donation.
1. Box or bag up the ones that “have no use” and put them aside.
2.Group the “keep” pieces by color
a. 1st pile- white
b. 2nd pile-pastel tones
c. 3rd pile-vibrant colors
d. 4th pile-dark tones.
Remember, by organizing clothes by color, you can easily identify pieces that you don't use frequently and rethink their usefulness, saving you time from indecisiveness (there is no one “correct” way to do it).
Additionally, a color organization can help visualize what is in excess and missing, creating easier decision-making on new purchases. An excellent tip to optimize closet space is to use hangers of the same color as the clothes or thin hangers that take up less space. Another great tip is to leave heavier pieces, such as coats and sweaters, at the ends of the closet to prevent them from deforming lighter pieces. The goal is for the organization to be functional for you, making it easier to choose your clothes daily.
Oh ! And before you donate that box, check out consignment clothing websites to see what brands they accept. You never know what you could get for them…you could end up sending in 8 pairs of jeans and end up with that designer purse you have been eyeing!
