The Eccentricity of Lady Gaga

 by Austin Fuller

Lady Gaga has gone from performing on a side stage at Alt Rock Fest Lollapalooza in 2007 to headlining the same event in 2010. Her 2nd breakthrough album (Born This Way), in 2011, would catapult her into the stratosphere of fame with her breakout Poker Face single which she would later say is an “Ode to Bisexuality” because of poker facing with your sexuality. Additional songs helped her grow in popularity with LGBT community such as “Born This Way.” It drove her straight into Queer Icon status with the way the LGBTQ community took to her fashion, image, and music which would flux and change as easily as her wardrobe. Her multifaceted talent led her to incorporate elements of different styles, spun throughout her career with her own variations on Alt Rock Pop to Electronic Rock Pop & Jazz. Lady Gaga used her considerable influence on the younger generation to perform a duet with legendary singer Tony Bennett to help bring those classic songs and styles to the youth’s attention. Later in 2021, they would team up again for yet another collaborative old-school effort. Being true to herself, she is an inspiration to the LGBTQ community by showing her different sides to the world, fearlessly. She stands,
unwavering and steadfast as herself peerlessly. When Lady Gaga headlined the 2017 Super Bowl, she had no costars or guests for the performance: the first time since 2010. She performed a wide array of songs including material from her then-recent album Joanne. Whether it’s from Lollapalooza to Born This Way to headlining the Super Bowl and beyond, Lady Gaga has always had an impeccable way of carrying herself, changing her image, music, and fashion up. Her continuous evolution always keeps the public and fans guessing. For example, does anyone remember her meat dress? She said there was a corset sewn underneath the meat to give the garment its shape. Her loud and bombastic fashion sense sparked the breakthrough into multidimensional forms of individuality. Her evolution always keeps fans guessing what her next move could be. She turned into an A-List actor after A Star is Born and was cast as Harley Quinn in the coming sequel to Joker. She’s known for wearing classic old Hollywood gowns but for her House of Gucci tour, she took more of an Italian glamour in the purple dress with the giant puffy sleeves and has worn a feathery almost alien-like dress as if she was wearing the Rings of Saturn around her. Her fashion is bold, unforgettable, and incomparable.

One thing that can never be forgotten or mistaken is that Lady Gaga never tried to
be like other celebs or her peers. She has always been herself, [absolutely] unique and different in a celeb world where everyone tries to be different and stand out. She made/makes unforgettable moments, making heads turn and fans say Oh my God! Did you see that?-about things she wears/wore and statements, she spoke/speaks. With Lady Gaga you can expect the outlandish, and by her doing so, Lady Gaga is peerless.
